The Napoleon AX42PTE-2 is the propane version of the Altitude X 42-inch direct-vent decorative fireplace. Its clean-face design pairs a large traditional firebox with a separately selected log set and interior panel finish. The base-appliance price does not include the required log set, panel kit or installation-specific vent system.
ProFlame II remote control and the fuel-matched eFIRE controller are included. The Controls selector offers the optional W660-0160 wall-mount control and a separately priced replacement eFIRE controller. The replacement is not an additional required purchase; no extra remote purchase is needed for the standard fireplace package.
A complete approved 5-inch exhaust / 8-inch air intake direct-vent system is required for installation and sold separately. Venting choices remain optional for ordering. Terminations are route alternatives, not items to buy all together; add the proper vent lengths and route-specific installation parts. Follow the exact appliance manual and installer-approved route. A terminal or single pipe kit alone is not a complete system. This appliance is top vent. Round-wall and Silhouette terminations are the source-listed horizontal options.

Horizontal vent clearances are 3 inches above and 2 inches at the sides/bottom; vertical runs require 1 inch all around. Framing, enclosure height and mantel clearances are separate requirements: consult the full diagrams before construction. Keep all finishing outside the finishing flange, retain service access, and install the supplied safety barrier and door trims. Position only approved logs exactly as their instructions show; never burn solid fuel. This is a decorative appliance, not a primary heating appliance. Fuel conversion requires a certified kit and qualified service. Follow manufacturer documentation and applicable codes.
