The Carol Rose OP36FP is a 36-inch traditional outdoor gas fireplace with a stainless-steel exterior and refractory-lined firebox. Its outdoor burner is designed for the matching Wildwood refractory log set. Select the documented fuel and ignition configuration for the installation.
The fireplace includes its burner, refractory liner, mesh curtain, stainless-steel hood and supplied gas shutoff equipment. The 72-series intermittent-ignition configuration also includes a wireless remote with On/Off and Hi/Lo flame control, four AA control batteries and an A23 remote battery.
One OLX24WR seven-piece Wildwood outdoor refractory log set is required and sold separately. Select the correct fuel and ignition model. Position every log exactly as directed by its instructions; do not substitute decorative glass, rock wool or additional logs. The furnished hood or approved extension hood must be installed before operation, and the screen must remain in place during use.
Model-specific optional accessories include BDO36SS stainless-steel bifold glass doors, DT36SS drain tray, WD36SS weather door and VB4H36SS extended hood. Glass doors must be open and a weather door must not cover the opening during operation. An extended hood is recommended when non-combustible facing exceeds one inch in thickness. Optional protection accessories do not replace the required log set or required installation clearances.
FRBC battery-receiver remote and FWS1 wall switch are optional for the 32-series millivolt configuration. The 72-series includes its own remote and does not require a separately purchased millivolt remote.

Use only outdoors in a well-ventilated space, sheltered from direct wind. Do not install in a building, garage or enclosed room. A screened-porch installation requires at least 96 square feet of area and an 84-inch ceiling. Covered installations with three side walls require at least 30 percent of the horizontal perimeter permanently open; increase this opening allowance to compensate for screen mesh. Follow the enclosure diagrams in the manual.
Maintain at least 6 inches from the inside fireplace opening to a perpendicular combustible side wall, 36 inches clear in front and 84 inches from floor to ceiling. Combustible framing needs a 3/4-inch gap across the top and the manual’s 3/8-inch side-face gaps. Mantel clearances depend on depth: consult the complete diagram rather than using one clearance for every mantel. A raised combustible hearth requires non-combustible protection across the opening width extending at least 16 inches forward. Verify the actual appliance, drain-tray choice and finishing thickness before framing.
The unit sheds moderate water but is not waterproof or an exterior weather barrier. Plan flashing and positive drainage; the manual recommends a 1/4-inch-per-foot slope away from the structure or toward the drain, with the fireplace shimmed level. Keep the gas shutoff accessible outside the unit. All gas piping, pressure testing and installation must be performed by a qualified installer under the manufacturer instructions and applicable codes.
The manufacturer prohibits connecting 120V directly to the appliance. Follow the wiring and operating instructions for the selected ignition model.
Arrange inspection before use and at least annually by a qualified service person. Keep burner ports, air intake and controls clear, verify log placement and replace control batteries as directed. Clean only when cool, with the gas off. Stainless steel may develop an outdoor patina or surface oxidation; use the manufacturer’s recommended stainless-steel cleaning method.
The original purchaser receives a limited five-year parts warranty on appliance components, with a limited one-year parts warranty on remotes, thermostats, accessories and replacement parts. Qualified installation, proper operation and maintenance are conditions of coverage. Travel, diagnosis, freight, removal and reinstallation are excluded under the complete manufacturer terms.
