Empire VSP30N 30-Inch Natural Gas Single Vented Burner

The VSP30N is a 30-inch, match-light single burner for a fully vented solid-fuel fireplace. This natural-gas-only decorative burner has a maximum input of 105,000 BTU/h and requires a separately selected approved log set. It is not a vent-free burner or a complete fireplace enclosure.

Included and required components

Included: burner, grate, pipe cap, orifice and holder, 90-degree elbow, flex line, damper clamp, vermiculite, rockwool and lava rock, as listed in the manual carton contents. The 30-inch package lists three vermiculite packages and two lava-rock packages.

Required separately: an approved decorative log set, a suitable fireplace with working flue, and a code-compliant gas supply/shutoff installation. The manufacturer compatibility table lists Treehouse LTH730, Great Lakes Oak LGLO30 or Oak Tinder LOT30 for this burner size. Select a documented log alternative; visually similar or differently sized log sets are not substitutes.

Fireplace fit

The manual’s minimum masonry-fireplace dimensions for this size are 36 inches front width, 30 inches rear width, 18 inches depth and 28 inches height, with a chimney at least 10 feet high. These are fireplace opening requirements, not burner overall dimensions. The front width allows the log set to be centered.

Venting and installation

Install only in a suitable solid-fuel fireplace of noncombustible construction with a functioning flue. The damper must remain fully open during operation and be secured with the prescribed clamp; additional local requirements may apply. Keep the fireplace screen in place and glass doors fully open while the burner operates. Do not burn wood or other solid fuel in the fireplace after installing this gas burner.

Have the chimney/fireplace cleaned before installation and inspected at least annually. Use only the supplied loose media in the amounts and locations shown in the manual, then follow the selected log set’s own placement instructions. Lava rock belongs around the grate/burner assembly. Installation and servicing must follow the complete manufacturer documentation and applicable codes and be performed by a qualified technician.

Warranty and documents

The manufacturer provides a limited five-year parts warranty on burners and grates for the original purchaser, subject to qualified installation, maintenance and warranty exclusions.
