This natural gas model uses millivolt control with optional remote or wall control and provides up to 10,000 BTU/h input. Choose the exact fuel model before ordering: field fuel conversion is not permitted.

Technical specifications

Manufacturer/model: Empire VFRL1810N.

Fuel: Natural Gas.

Control: millivolt control with optional remote or wall control.

Maximum input: 10,000 BTU/h.

Minimum fireplace opening: 28-inch front width, 21-inch rear width, 13-inch depth and 17-inch height; these are installation opening requirements, not overall burner dimensions.

Minimum sidewall clearance: 6 inches from the fireplace opening. Minimum ceiling clearance: 41 inches above the opening.

Included and required

The manufacturer packing list identifies the gas burner assembly, masonry and sheet-metal anchoring screws, and damper clamp. Remote controls are optional for the millivolt model. A compatible fireplace/firebox, correct natural gas supply, installer-provided gas connection and adequate combustion/ventilation air are required. The burner must be anchored securely. A fireplace screen must be in place during operation; glass doors must remain fully open.

Optional finishes and media

Approved decorative top covers DT18PB or DT18SS are optional. The burner may operate with or without the manufacturer-approved decorative accessories. For optional full media coverage, the manual recommends 2 kits of approved DG1BUC, DG1BKP or DG1CLF glass. These coverage quantities do not make decorative glass a mandatory burner component. Keep glass outside the burner opening, away from the flame, gas valve and air passages.

Installation and venting

Install only in a suitable solid-fuel masonry fireplace, compatible UL 127 factory-built fireplace or listed ventless enclosure permitted by the manual. Do not use a factory-built fireplace that prohibits unvented gas appliances. Vent-free use is supplemental room heating and requires sufficient room air. The manual also documents vented decorative operation with a functioning chimney and secured-open damper; thermostatic controls are for vent-free applications only. Canadian installations must use the manual-authorized vented configuration. Bedroom or bathroom eligibility depends on the manual and local restrictions; do not assume the reduced input permits installation in every jurisdiction. Mantel, hearth and combustible clearances depend on the complete installation. Installation and service must follow the manufacturer manual and applicable codes.

Warranty and documentation

The manual provides a limited five-year parts-and-labor warranty for covered appliance components and a limited one-year parts warranty for remote controls, thermostats, accessories and replacement parts, subject to its exclusions and installation/maintenance conditions. Read the Empire Loft installation and owner manual for the exact model, clearances, approved media placement, controls and warranty.

Availability

Supplier-order item, subject to supplier availability.
