Empire Hearth Surround Adaptor (Req for Cast Iron Surround) SAK28

Empire SAK28 Cast Iron Surround Adapter Kit

SAK28 is the manufacturer-listed adapter kit for using the SC356BL 6-inch cast iron surround on an Empire DVC28IN insert.

Exact application

Required companion selection

The SC356BL cast iron surround requires this adapter for the listed insert. The insert and surround are separate products. This is a conditional requirement for that cast iron surround configuration, not a universal requirement for every DVC28IN installation or every surround style.

Ordering and installation

Check the complete appliance model and the selected surround before ordering. Parts for the DVC20IN, DVC26IN and DVC28IN families have separate model-specific part numbers and are not interchangeable merely because the styling matches. Follow the component instructions and the appliance installation manual; keep the insert ventilation openings clear.

The manufacturer permits only its approved surrounds, shrouds and decorative fronts to cover integral grilles of the original solid-fuel fireplace. Do not seal those openings with improvised sheet-metal panels. Installation must follow the manufacturer documentation and applicable codes.

Manufacturer documentation

Empire DVC20/26/28IN installation manual, 41380-2-1024: page 6 identifies this exact part and its matching insert; page 16 explains surround installation and ventilation-opening restrictions.
