The Carol Rose OLL60SP12S is a 60-inch, see-through outdoor linear gas fireplace with two viewing sides. Choose the natural-gas or propane model to match the installation. Its illuminated crushed-glass bed and manually adjustable flame create a contemporary outdoor fire feature.

Included components

The appliance includes its burner and manual controls, LED lighting, AA ignition battery, supplied non-combustible panels, mounting hardware, receptacle and burner service supports. Two glass wind panels are supplied for the see-through model.

Required components

The manufacturer requires approved crushed glass covering 10 square feet for the burner and lighting area; each manufacturer bag covers approximately one square foot. DG1CLF Clear Frost is specified as the required base media; DG1BKP Black Polished and DG1BUC Blue Clear are listed for accent use. The manual permits mixing approved colors and limits the total crushed glass to 10 bags. Glass is selected separately. Decorative droplets cannot substitute for the required crushed glass.

Optional accessories

Decorative droplets are optional accents placed on top of the crushed glass, outside the burner flame. The manual allows no more than one bag in total.

The manual lists WD60LSS weather doors and WG60LT1 taller glass wind deflectors. Order two of the selected weather-door or taller-deflector accessory for the two-sided installation; these optional accessories are not required simply because the fireplace is see-through. Remove weather doors before operating the burner. Fuel conversion must use the correct manufacturer kit and qualified service: 35829 converts natural gas to propane; 35830 converts propane to natural gas.

Installation and safety notes

This is an outdoor-only appliance, not an indoor unvented heater. It must not open into a residence and is not equipped with an oxygen-depletion-sensor pilot. The manual does not specify a chimney or flue connection; adequate outdoor combustion and ventilation air remains essential. Covered and partially enclosed installations must satisfy the manual’s wall/open-perimeter diagrams. Where a covered enclosure has three side walls, at least 30 percent of its horizontal periphery must remain permanently open; screening requires an adjustment for the mesh open area. Minimum porch area is 96 square feet and minimum ceiling height is 90 inches.

Maintain at least 6 inches from the inside fireplace opening to a combustible side wall and 24 inches from the top opening to the ceiling. Minimum alcove width is 72 inches and maximum alcove depth is 24 inches. Combustible mantels require the depth-dependent clearances in the manual diagram. Apply the clearance and finishing rules to both viewing sides. These dimensions do not replace the full installation drawings.

Provide drainage beneath the fireplace. DT48LSS is an optional drain-tray accessory; a drainage path is still required when that tray is not used. The manual calls for at least 6 inches of additional enclosure height when installing the drain tray to accommodate its connection and tubing. The unit sheds moderate water but is not waterproof and does not function as an exterior weather barrier. Plan flashing, sloped drainage surfaces and shelter from direct wind.

A separately accessible external gas shutoff and the correct fuel supply are required installation provisions.

Keep burner ports, air intake, controls and ventilation paths clear. Arrange inspection before use and at least annually by a qualified service person; inspect more frequently where insects or debris accumulate. Allow the appliance to cool before service. Stainless steel can develop an outdoor patina or surface oxidation; use a non-abrasive stainless-steel cleaner as directed. Never operate with the weather door fitted.

Warranty summary

The manual provides a limited five-year parts warranty for appliance components, excluding remote controls, thermostats, accessories and replacement parts, which have a limited one-year parts warranty. Coverage is for the original purchaser, subject to proper installation, use and maintenance and the full manufacturer terms. Travel, diagnosis, freight, removal and reinstallation costs are excluded as detailed in the warranty. Installation and service must follow the exact manufacturer manual and applicable codes.
