Product overview

The SL430 is the 30° offset/return elbow for the HHT SL400 Series 10" (254 mm) inside-diameter wood chimney, which Majestic lists for Canada only. One elbow offsets the chimney and a second returns it to vertical. It is a venting component, not a fireplace.

Verified fireplace compatibility: the Majestic Biltmore SB60 / SB80 installation manual lists the SL430 Offset/Return (30°) for Canada, with an effective height of 14-1/2" (368 mm). The SL400 manual lists no 15° elbow.

Installation and safety notes

Offsets must not exceed 30°. Maximum two pairs of offsets and returns; maximum 20 ft (6.1 m) between offset and return and 6 ft (1.83 m) unsupported between them. Secure offsets with screws no longer than 1/2" and returns with straps (4013-300).

Minimum chimney height rises to 18.5 ft with a single offset/return and 24 ft with a double offset/return for the Biltmore.

Do I need one SL430 or two?

An offset is installed as an offset and a return, so one shift uses two elbows; maximum two pairs.

What firestop is used with an SL430 run?

Where a 30° section passes through a ceiling, the Biltmore manual lists the FS540 firestop (17" x 26" opening).

Is there a 15° SL400 elbow?

The Biltmore manual lists only the 30° SL430 for SL400.

Can I use the SL430 in the US?

SL400 is listed for Canada only; the US equivalent is the SL1130.
