Product overview
The DVP-WS is the wall firestop / wall shield for the HHT DVP 5" x 8" direct-vent system. HHT lists it as "pare-feu protecteur mural" (wall firestop shield) in its Approved Vent Components guide. It is a vent component, not a fireplace.
HHT requires a penetrated combustible wall to be framed with a wall shield; a noncombustible wall may instead use a hole 1" larger than the pipe diameter.
